Economics of Domestic Violence at AWID Forum:

From the 19th until the 22 of April, 2200 people will meet in Istanbul, Turkey to attend the 2012 AWID Forum: Transforming Economic Power to Advance Women’s Rights and Justice. All four Rights for change consultants will attend this dynamic forum. Together with Christelle Cronje of Mosaic, Cape Town, South Africa and Anara Moldosheva, consultant, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Loeky Droesen of Rights for Change will host a panel on "The Economics of Domestic Violence" (The time slot has been announced for the 22 April at 2:00PM - 3:30PM. We have as a tentative room is: Cibali III)
In this inter-active panel, we will explore with the participants if there is an impact of the economic crisis on the levels of violence in our society. Questions that we will address include: "does the economic crisis lead to more Domestic Violence cases in your country"; "Is the government still investing in stopping Domestic Violence in the current economic climate" and "how we can use economic arguments to lobby for change."
